Precocious Hearts star Isaac Mensah has calmed down fans’ anxiety, assuring them that he would be back in the squad soon.

The twinkle-toed midfielder has not been involved since revealed as a substitute in the 2-1 win over Great Olympics.

But after missing the last few games, Mensah has explained the reasoning behind his absence.

“I have not been well but I just got back again and I am trying very hard to get back into the squad,” he told accraheartsofoaksc.com.

“A lot of fans have been calling to ask about my whereabouts and my well being but I want to assure all of them that I am just getting back and I have not left Hearts of Oak as being peddled by some people.

“I am still with the team and you have not been seeing me because I just recovered from a small illness. I want you to remember me in your prayers and God willing, you will see me very soon.”

Mensah has also praised the playing body for getting a sweet win over Kotoko and Bechem United and says it is only a matter of time before they win away from home.

“Coach [Frank] Nuttall is shaping the team very well and there’s competition from the goalkeepers to the strikers,” Mensah admitted. “We all have to fight to get into the team but I am happy that those who played were able to beat Kotoko in Accra. That is what our fans want and  the boys were able to do that. I am also happy we beat Bechem in mid-week. Our next target is to start winning away from home and I believe we are very close to achieving that.”
