Accra Hearts of Oak Physiotherapist Ernest Anum reveals Malik Akowuah has started beach work and he's on track with his recovery.

Akowuah sustained a serious ankle injury in the 4-2 win over Bechem United earlier this month.

But after two weeks, walking with Plaster-Of-Paris (P.O.P) wrapped to his ankle, the rasta-haired midfielder was at the hospital yesterday to take it off.

Akowuah has been given the green light to start beach training as he steps up his recovery.

"We have good news on Akowuah," Anum told

"He was at the hospital to take off the P.O.P and he has started beach training. You know he cannot begin straight away with hard surfaces or pitches so we believe the sands of the shores will aid him in adjusting to walking freely again without the P.O.P.

"Akowuah is on schedule and I can confidently say his recovery is going according to plan."
