Accra Hearts of Oak have been handed a major boost with the return to full training of Malik Akowuah, Kassenu Ghandy, Robin Gnagne, Evans Gbeti, and Richard Yamoah.

The five players have been battling various degrees of injuries but they have fully recovered and began full training with the main team.

On Wednesday, the five players joined the full training and were involved in a grueling 9-a-side game and they are expected to continue training and fight for a chance to be in the squad for the WAFA match.

Malik Akowuah picked up an ankle injury in the 4-2 win over Bechem United and after four weeks out, he is back but assistant coach Wellington Lamptey believes the mercurial midfielder is about 70% fit.

Wellington confirmed the return of the quintet: “Robin Gnagne is back fully but I cannot say 100% fit. [Richard] Yamoah has started training but I do not know the latest on him from the physiotherapists – so I cannot confirm he is 100%.

[Malik] Akowuah has started training and I can assure you that he’s about 70-80% fit. Kassenu Ghandy is also back.”

Goalkeeper Evans Gbeti has also recovered from an elbow injury and he has been training with the first team.
