Accra Hearts of Oak defender Richard Akrofi admits the defense are not happy when the team concedes goals in a match but says they are working to stop the opponent from scoring against the team.

The former Wa AllStars center back has been partnering Vincent Atingah at the heart of the Hearts defense and they put up a solid display against Kotoko last Monday though the visitors scored what proved to be a consolation goal in the 3-1 victory for the Phobians.

“For us defenders, at the end of the day, our work is judged by how many goals we let in and so we are always hurt when we concede goals,” Akrofi told accraheartsofoaksc.com.

“We have been working as a defensive unit and I think we can work collectively too as a team to stop conceding goals. That is what we are doing so against Kotoko, we were really happy that we did not give them any space from open play. We shut down a lot of the spaces but we were sad when they scored from a set-piece.

“I know we are a work in progress but the fans should be a little patient with us and give us their full backing. We will not let them down.”
