Accra Hearts of Oak will host Division One side Kotoku Royals in the round of 32 of the 2016/17 MTN FA Cup at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, 21 May 2017.

The Phobians dispatched Sporting Mirren in the last round and would be hoping to repeat the feat over Kotoku Royals on Sunday as Frank Nuttall’s side aim for silverware in the cup competition.

Hearts have re-found their swashbuckling form at the Accra Sports Stadium having won seven of their last eight games in all competitions. Wa All Stars (2-1), Olympics (2-1), Kotoko (1-0), Bechem United (4-2), Sporting Mirren (2-1), Kotoko (3-1), and WAFA (2-1) have all fallen at the Accra Sports Stadium with Elmina Sharks being the only side to leave the venue with a point from the Phobians.

Coach Nuttall’s side just returned from a morale-boosting 3-0 away win over Liberty Professionals in the league, and they will not be leaving any stone unturned for this fixture against the lower league side.

Kotoku Royals are placed 12th in the Division One Zone Three league but they have beaten Phar Rangers 1-0 and Bepong Believers FC 1-0 away from home to progress to this stage of the MTN FA Cup.

The record is overwhelmingly against the visitors but they will not be daunted and will be hoping to cause a shock in Accra on Sunday.

However, coach Nuttall’s side are also taking the competition seriously and they will not be giving away any hope for Kotoku Royals.

THE FA CUP: Hearts vs Lower Division sides

Hearts have met lower league opposition teams in the FA Cup 14 times in the last six years. The Phobians have only lost twice out of the 14 games, winning the other 12. They have scored 28 goals and conceded five goals within the period against lower division sides.
