MATCH PREVIEW: Accra Hearts of Oak will host Obuasi Ashantigold in the match-day 20 of the 2016/17 Ghana Premier League fixture at the Accra Sports Stadium on Wednesday, 28th June, 2017.

The Phobians will be hoping to close the gap with the top two leading teams by beating a resurgent Ashgold side in midweek.

Hearts beat Elmina Sharks 2-0 on the road and will be seeking to record back-to-back league victories at the Accra Sports Stadium in the second round when they play host to Ashgold on Wednesday.

Coach Frank Nuttall insists his players will be ready for the midweek clash with Asghold.

“Yeah, we will be ready for the game. We will recover in the next couple of days and every team has a game today so we will recover and for sure, we will be ready,” the Hearts head coach told accraheartsofoaksc.com in his pre-match briefing.

Ashgold have climbed out of the relegation and have been high-flying since ex-Hearts coach Charles Akunnor took over the reins in the first round. The Miners beat Inter Allies 3-0 last weekend and the resounding victory will boost the morale of the players ahead of Wednesday’s showdown with Accra Hearts of Oak.

In the first round, Hearts pipped Ashgold by a lone goal thanks to a beautiful strike from impact substitute Paul Acquah. Although the miners lost in the first round to Hearts, they played very well and they will be hoping to build on that performance in midweek.

Hearts have not lost at home all season having won five and drawn three times at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Ashgold, on the other hand, have lost seven games on the road this season. They have picked up a solitary win and a draw away from home in the new campaign. The Miners have shipped in 16 goals away from home and scored only four.

Coach Nuttall’s side have scored an impressive 15 goals from nine games at home and conceded only six times. In the last three games, following a change in formation in the setup, team Hearts are yet to concede a goal. The three-back formation that has Robin Gnagne, Vincent Atingah, and Richard Akrofi in the middle of defense has become a serious headache for opposition strikers. And it is our hope it continues in the same vein on Wednesday.
