Accra Hearts of Oak talismanic star Thomas Abbey was named the official man-of-the-match in our 2-0 win over Berekum Chelsea on Wednesday.

The sedulous midfielder scored a brace, a goal in each half, to help the Phobians to end a three-game winless run in all competitions.

Abbey broke the deadlock in the game in the 35th minute of action, snatching the ball off Kwame Kizito, before driving in and smashing a lovely shot into the top corner. He was again the cynosure when he met an inviting cross from Fatawu Mohammed on the volley inside the 6-yard box to double Hearts’ lead.

The Hearts skipper took his season tally to 10 league goals and five assists for the season in 21 matches.

Abbey received a rapturous standing ovation when he was substituted in the 69th minute.

His performance on the day was duly recognized by the man-of-the-match selectors and he took home his third official personal award.
