Accra Hearts of Oak will host Tema Youth in the match-day 24 of the 2016/17 Ghana Premier League season at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, 23rd July, 2017.

The Phobians were not in action last weekend due to the tragic accident that happened to rivals Asante Kotoko, whom they were scheduled to meet in match-day 23, but that game has been postponed to a later date.

Team Hearts have been preparing well for this weekend’s fixture having had a few more days rest and they will be going all out to avenge the first round defeat suffered at the hands of Tema Youth.

After arresting a three-game winless run with a 2-0 home win over Berekum Chelsea last time around, coach Frank Nuttall’s side have their eyes set on maintaining some consistency and building momentum at the business end of the season with Tema Youth and Olympics coming up on the fixture list.

Team Hearts have been very impressive at home this season but their only blip came in the 0-1 loss to Ashgold. They have won seven, drawn three, and lost one of their 11 home games. Wa AllStars (2-1), Olympics (2-1), Kotoko (1-0), Bechem United (4-2), WAFA (2-1), Bolga AllStars (4-0), and Berekum Chelsea (2-0) have all fallen at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Coach Nuttall’s side were handed a favorable draw in the FA cup on Tuesday and they will be hosting Danbort in the last 8 of the cup competition but all their attention will return to the league and the game against Tema Youth.

In the first round, the Harbour City boys denied the Phobians a point at their home. Tema Youth took an early goal lead but Hearts restored parity at the beginning of the second half.

However, a clear Hearts goal scored by Inusah Musah was ruled out for offside before Tema Youth jumped back into the lead and held it out to the very end.

Hearts have their sights on bridging the gap with the pace-setters, WAFA and Aduana, and so they will be going all out to beat Tema Youth and keep the pace in the race for the title.

MATCH FACTS: The two sides have met 11 times in the Ghana Premier League since Tema Youth’s promotion in the 2006/7 season.

Hearts have won three, drawn four, and lost four of the 11 outcomes. The Phobians have scored 13 goals and conceded 12 from the previous meetings.
