Accra Hearts of Oak beat Asante Kotoko 4-2 on penalties to reach the finals of the 2018 GHALCA G8 tournament on Wednesday.
Malik Akowuah scored the winning goal sending Hearts to its second consecutive final in a GHALCA organized competition in 13 months.
Team Hearts beat Kotoko at the same stage on penalties last year and they repeated the feat again at the Babayara Sports Stadium.
After an exciting two halves of football, which Hearts dominated but could not translate their dominance into goals, the game was reduced to the lottery of the spot kick.
Richard Akrofi missed for Hearts following two straight misses from
Kotoko's Jackson Owusu missed the chance to cancel out Christopher Bonney's strike. Francis Morton put Hearts 2-0 up from the spot but Baba Mahama halved the deficit before Richard Akrofi missed to hand Kotoko a lifeline which Awudu Nafiu calmly accepted. Patrick Razak also scored but Eric Donkor missed before Akowuah hammered home the winner to send Hearts into the finals.
